Where was he born?
Louis Brennan was born in the building now know as Stauntons Pharmacy, Castlebar, Co. Mayo. When he was nine his family emigrated to Australia.
Why is he famous?
Louis Brennan was famous for inventing the first Mono-rail which helped developing the 1st helicopters. He also patented The Torpedo which was used by the British Army Royal Engineers between 1890-1906. Brennan's gyroscopic monorail would become the must-have transport system of the 20th century. He did not succeed but nonetheless, with a torpedo and a helicopter also under his belt, Brennan must surely be the most remarkable inventor ever born in Ireland.
Is he still alive? If not, where did he die and where is he buried?
Is he still alive? If not, where did he die and where is he buried?

There is a statue in memory of Louis Brennan in England and Australia but there isn’t any in his hometown (Castlebar)to date. In March or April Enda Kenny said that there will be either a statue or plaque in memory of Louis Brennan.
